What is redrum meaning?

Redrum is a word used in the novel "The Shining" by Stephen King and the subsequent film adaptation by Stanley Kubrick. It is actually the word "murder" spelled backwards and is famously portrayed in the film as a warning of impending doom. In the story, the character Jack Torrance becomes increasingly unstable and is driven to attempt to murder his family while they are staying at the isolated Overlook Hotel. The term has since become a cultural meme and is sometimes used as a reference to the story.
